From the Director of Admissions
Dear Prospective Students & Parents,
Welcome Home! That is what our Bambies will say to you when you walk through the doors of St. Hubert. St. Hubert is what our young ladies call their “Home away from Home.” I know personally it has been my “2nd home” before I stepped into the large front doors for my freshman year. I come from a long line of Bambies, my Mom (Nancy Wagner Szambelak ’68), many of my aunts, and cousins all walked the halls of St. Hubert. But for my Mom and me it was more than just those four years. My Mom for several years served as President of the Alumnae Association, and she also volunteered her time in the Main Office, with me only a few feet away in the playpen. Before my Mom knew it I was getting ready to graduate from 8th grade and follow in her legacy.
On my first day of my Freshman year, I remember putting on my crisp yellow blouse, my brown jumper, and proudly sporting my green emblem. I knew from that day forward, my life was going to change, and It did. My four years at St. Hubert were the best years of my life. My memories are filled with the laughter with my friends at the lunch tables, cheers and splashes in the swimming pool, the camera flashes of my dances and proms, the melody of the chorus in the annual musical, the pencil scratches in my sketch book in art class, the A-8 Bambie Crossing sign on St. Hubert day my senior year, the singing of our School Song at Graduation and so many more memories.
Five short years later, after I studied abroad at the number one business school in Ireland and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communications from Arcadia University, I returned to St. Hubert as the Director of Admissions. For those few short years I was away, I forgot what the St. Hubert spirit was all about. It is the girls who remind me on a daily basis why I love St. Hubert so much.
Our Bambies, past and present are a unique bunch, they are outgoing, caring, bold, and sensitive. On a regular day at St. Hubert you will see the serious studious side of our girls, where you can hear the quiet soft taps of the keys on their netbooks, while they listen intently to their teacher’s lecture. In between classes the hallways come alive with the laughter and the shouts of our Bambies.
The best part about my job is showing families why St. Hubert is the best investment for a young woman’s future. We pride ourselves on being the affordable college preparatory school for young women. In comparison to other local academies, St. Hubert offers the same education at an affordable price. We work hard to instill in our girls the Catholic Christian values that are the foundation of St. Hubert’s existence, and the tools and knowledge to carry with them throughout college and life.
The only way you are going to get to know St. Hubert is if you visit us. We have many events and activities that we are sure that will help you catch the Bambie Spirit. We invite you to take a tour at the open house, meet new friends at 8th grad visitation day, or Be a Bambie for a day with our Shadowing program. Remember… Home is where your story begins. This is your chance to begin your High School story at St. Hubert!
